A collection is a named group of products: Summer, Gifts under 200, Best sellers. Shoppers browse your store by collection, so this is how you give a long product list a shape someone can actually shop.
Creating a collection#
- Open Collections and choose Add collection.
- Give it a title. That is what shoppers see.
- Pick the products it contains, then drag the display order into the order you want them shown in.
- Set the status and create it.
You need products before you can build a collection. If your store is empty, add products first and come back.
The handle#
The handle is the part of the collection's web address. You set it yourself when you create the collection, and you can change it later. Changing the handle of a collection you have already shared changes its link, and the old link stops working, so it is worth settling early.
Active, draft, archived#
- Active: shoppers can see and browse it.
- Draft: only you can see it. Use this while you are still deciding what goes in.
- Archived: kept but out of the way. Nothing is deleted.
Deleting a collection#
Deleting a collection removes the grouping only. Every product in it stays in your store, on sale, exactly as it was. If you want a product gone, delete the product.
