A discount code is a word a shopper types at checkout to get money off. You decide the code, how much it takes off, and the conditions under which it works.
The code itself#
Whatever you type is stored in capitals, so DISCOUNT and discount are the same code. Codes have to be unique within your store, so if you get told the code already exists, you have used it before.
Type and value#
- Percentage: a whole number from 1 to 100. Twenty percent off the order.
- Fixed amount: an amount in riyals, at least 0.01. Fifty riyals off the order.
You can set a minimum subtotal so the code only works on orders above a certain size. Leave it empty and there is no minimum.
When the code works#
Set a start time to schedule a code ahead of a sale, and an end time to have it stop on its own. Leave the end empty and the code never expires. Set a total number of uses to cap it, or leave that empty for unlimited use.
What the status is telling you#
- Active: usable at checkout, subject to its own start time, end time, and usage limit.
- Disabled: switched off regardless of those dates. It stays in your list and you can switch it back on.
Disabling and re-enabling a code does not touch its dates or usage count, so a code you scheduled ahead of a sale and then paused still starts, stops, and counts uses exactly as you set it up.
Switching a code off is reversible; deleting it is not, and checkout stops accepting it immediately. If you only want to pause a promotion, use the toggle.
